If you have no idea how the publishing industry works – or how it gets screwed up by hopeful writers and sharks, take the time to watch this:
You might just save yourself from making a horrible faux pas with an agent, editor, or publisher.
On a separate note, if you want to suggest a great Christmas present for yourself, send folks to Irene Goodman’s site. She’s a literary agent who routinely (once a month) auctions her time away for a good cause. She’s raising money to combat her son’s illness by offering writers critiques. This month, there are fifteen critique auctions! Many thanks to Cat Woods for the info.
Addendum: Many thanks to those who let me know the link wasn’t working!
Thanks for the links, Victoria. Will check them out.
Thank you so much to the link for Irene Goodman's auctions!
The "So You Want to Be A Writer" link doesn't work.
Thanks though for the other links ๐
ARGH!!! Thanks, Lynda! I've fixed the link. *Shakes her fist at the offending html code.*
You're very welcome, Rachna and Emy. ๐ I forwarded it to my hubby who asked me last night what I wanted for Christmas…. LOL
Oh that link is so worth it. Had me giggling the whole way. Thanks so much!!!
You're welcome, Lynda. Now I've seen it on agent websites/blogs. LOL
I loved the video! My husband was laughing so hard I thought he was in some serious pain. :p
And thanks for the info on Irene Goodman's auctions. ๐
Oh, dear. I hope he's recovered now. ๐ Yeah, my hubby did check out the auctions. Apparently the minimum price was $450 and had already been surpassed on one slot. Since that's about $350 more than we can afford right now, I'll have to continue to slog along in the old fashioned way. ๐
